OUR STORY

The Coffee Break Cafe is owned and operated by Ron Rader, a native Georgetonian, and his wife Meghan. They opened their doors in this historic building in 2008,  realizing there was a niche on Front Street,  just waiting to be filled by a coffee shop.

With Meghan’s treasured family recipes and Ron’s knowledge and love of coffee – along with lots of hard work – they have developed a menu of delicious home cooked meals to be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.

The story of “Yankee Grits”

Meghan learned to cook grits, the mainstay of southern breakfasts, when their original breakfast cook retired. Being from “the north”, and never having made hominy grits before, Meghan put her own spin and creativity into the mix. They were so creamy good that Ron christened them “Yankee Grits” and they became a favorite fixture here at the Coffee Break Café.  If you have never tried grits before or you’ve had them before and didn’t like them, give ours a try, you’ll become a big fan!

The Coffee Break Gallery of Art

Coffee Break Cafe with its high ceilings and an abundance of wall space, also serves as an Art Gallery, it features many art exhibits showcasing and supporting independent local artists. Both Ron & Meghan are dedicated to building a community through the arts and connecting Georgetown-area artists to residents and visitors alike, in a comfortable, and welcoming atmosphere.
